The Provincial Administrator’s office Davao del Norte Investment Promotion Center (PADO-DNIPC) in partnership with Municipal Agriculturist Office (MAGRO) of the Municipality of Asuncion, conducted a one-day training-workshop to the Rural Improvement Club ((RIC) members and to the local MSMEs in the Municipality of Asuncion last May 16, 2023 in Brgy. Cambanogoy, Asuncion, Davao del Norte.

The activity, which is in coordination with the Employment and Workforce Development Division (EWDD) of the provincial government on the livelihood component, is aimed at improving the participants’ product packaging and its labels. This also serves as value adding to their products, improving its physical attributes to create a lasting impression to the consumers, thereby commanding a brand loyalty to their products.

Ms. Gemma Otaza-Caasi, Development Management Officer II of PADO-DNIPC was the resource speaker on the topic on Product Enhancement, Packaging and Labeling and Product Costing. She emphasized the importance of product packaging, its functions, kinds of product packaging and the important information that should be found on the product labels. On the other hand, Ms. Juliet Baruiz of EWDD, staged a demonstration on table skirting, another learning intervention to add up to the skill set of the participants, who are mostly members of the rural improvement club and MSME-suppliers of locally-made products for display at the LGUs Negosyo Center.

Towards the end of the training, the trainees have expressed their interest to avail of the government’s product packaging and labeling assistance in the future, as well as other relevant trainings for the MSMEs, such as food processing and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
